WHEN it’s a statement of fact, that’s when. Yes, fholks, Rory Bremner can, indeed, pretend to be Tony Blair – and usually make a pretty decent fist of it, too.

Quoting no less an authority than the (allegedly) “Heaven-taught plowman”, Robert Burns … whose humanitarian credentials, notwithstanding his institutional tendency, might well have attracted him to the charitable ethos of the all-inclusive club that was Walfrid’s original Celtic, had he been born a century later … my old man was fond of saying,   “facts are chiels that winna ding.”

However, there will always be those who refuse to let the facts get in the way of a good story. For them, perhaps, in best Hollywood tradition, Rory Bremner IS Tony Blair … now, then and forever – if you get my drift.
