Borne On Wings (The Legend, “Henke”)

Today, in Helsingborg, Sweden, the home town of Celtic legend, Henrik Larsson, a bronze sculpture will be unveiled and dedicated to the great man, whose career with Helsingborg, Feyenoord, CELTIC, Barcelona and Manchester United earned him a worthy place in the pantheon of world football greats.

Fittingly, another Celtic giant, “Lisbon Lion”, Bertie Auld, will represent the Club (and all of us) at the unveiling ceremony.

To mark the occasion and in particular to commemorate Henrik’s unforgettable reign as Celtic’s “King of Kings” and “Magnificent 7”, 25thMay1967 is proud to pay him our trademark poetic tribute.

Thanks a million, “Henke”!

“Borne On Wings”
(the legend, ‘Henke’)

dark destroyer, borne on wings
born to let the people sing
swift to smite foes overawed
put usurpers to the sword
touched by genius, humble yet
called to greatness, greatness met
with the legends set to dwell
litany of ‘Greats’ to swell
Nordo-Celtic demigod
ranks in unison applaud
mighty hero, mighty deeds
of our dreams the very seed
warrior back in ninety-eight
when the hounds were at the gate
wellspring of a thousand thrills
fearsome ‘Tiger of Seville’ …
… dark destroyer, borne on wings
dreadlock skinhead, ‘King of Kings’
